Uplands
College presented Terry Pratchett's
Wyrd Sisters, the play
adapted for stage by Stephen Briggs.
Terry
Pratchett takes Shakespeare's
Macbeth and changes it
completely. It's all there - the
wicked duke and duchess, the ghost
of the murdered king, dim soldiers
strolling players, and a country
in peril - yet Shakespeare would
not recognise any of it!
Who
stands between the Kingdom and
destruction? Three witches. Granny
Weatherwax (intolerant, self-opinionated,
powerful), Nanny Ogg (down-to-earth,
vulgar) and Magrat Garlick (naïve,
fond of jewellery, bunnies and
the Fool).
