Married to Jetje with two daughters and
a son: Antoinette who matriculated from
Uplands; Caitlin, in Gr 11 at the College,
and Duncan who is just starting out at
Uplands. Sporting interests are cycling,
squash, golf, tennis and fishing.

Retired
teacher. Born in Harare. Schooled at
Townsend, Bulawayo. BSc (Maths, Chemistry)
from Cape Town. Holds a secondary teacher's
diploma. BEd from Unisa and working
on an MEd. Has taught Science and Maths
in Zimbabwe and Phalaborwa and computers
at Uplands Prep. Relief Maths teacher
at Uplands College. Enjoys travel, reading,
scuba diving, swimming. Rumoured to
be a very able first mate when sailing
under her husband's captaincy ... Married
to Ed and has Michael and Heather at
University.

Goss -

film production entrepreneur. Born: Johannesburg
1958. Attended St John's College and then
UCT BSc (Zoology/Geology). BSc (Hons)
and MSc (Zoology) from Pretoria University.
Research experience in Antarctica. Produced
wildlife documentaries in Southern Africa
for 15 years. Founded and managed a production
company making films for international
clients. International awards include
an Emmy nomination for photography. Wound
down filming activities to establish Uplands
College full-time after overseeing the
expansion of the Prep campus to accommodate
doubled pupil numbers. Married to Karen.
Two children, Jeremy and Kate, who matriculated
from the college. Enjoys wildlife, flying,
trout fishing and ... life! |

Harris
- Founder Board Member & Finance Committee
Chair
Retailing
entrepreneur. Born in Greytown, Natal.
After school attended Pietermaritzburg
Technical College. Studied Architecture
at the University of Natal. Worked for
Natal Parks Board for 10 years before
joining his wife's family in their commercial
property and retailing business. Now involved
in developing and running supermarkets
and commercial properties. Ed's son, Ansel,
matriculated from the College. Ed enjoys
bird watching and photography. |

Komane
Born
10 October 1966. Married to Dolphin with
five children, two girls and three boys.
Teacher by profession, currently teaching
Geograhy, History and Social Sciences
at Lehlasedi High School. Has B.Pead (University
of Zululand) and B.ED Hons. (University
of Northwest) degrees. Ordained Priest
of St Albans Anglican Church-Shatale,
Dioceses of Mpumalanga. Interest - current
affairs and social development. Hobby
- Hiking.

Mathews
Phosa
Born and raised in Mpumalanga. Mathews
holds B Proc and LLB degrees from the
University of the North (Turfloop). He
was awarded a honorary Doctorate in Law
by Boston University (USA) in 1995. Mathews
was appointed first Premier of Mpumalanga
Province following the establishment of
democracy in SA. In 1999, Mathews retired
from government politics to pursue a career
in business. Mathews sits on various boards
of listed and unlisted companies. He is
Chairperson of Council of the University
of South Africa (UNISA). Married to Pinky.
Three children, Moyahabo, Tshepiso (Gr
10), and Mathlatse (Gr 8). Mathews passion
includes writing Afrikaans poetry, public
speaking, and reading. |

Tecklenburg
Businessman
involved in the fresh meat trade in the
Lowveld. Married to Dot and has three
children all educated at the College:
Wesley class of 2003, Warwick 2005 and
Jessica presently in Gr 11. Hobbies: astronomy
and rugby. |

Nick
Adams
Born
in Kimberley in 1959. Schooled at Diocesan
College (Bishops), Cape Town, then UCT
for B.Comm (Hons) and a CA (SA) articled
to Deloitte. Interspersed with spates
of traveling, then worked in Johannesburg
with Deloitte Consulting, the Hollard
Group and African Bank. Currently has
investments in a number of owner-managed
businesses and is a Director of African
Bank. Married to Sue, with 2 children
at the College, Shelley Gr 10 (2009) and
Chris Gr 8 (2009). The family relocated
from Johannesburg to the Lowveld in 2007,
after spending a year cruising in the
Indian Ocean. Nic’s interests include
travel, wildlife, sailing, mountain biking,
flying, fishing, volleyball and anything
else that takes him to nice places.

Les Walker Anglican
Bishop of the Diocese of Mpumalanga. Born
on 1 May 1947 in Pretoria. Schooling at
Kingswood College, Grahamstown. Married
to Marian - have two children (both past
pupils of Uplands Prep) and one grandchild.
Before training for the ordained ministry
employed by Woolworths and then had own
business. After ordination in 1978 served
in the following parishes: St George's
White River, St Michael & All Angels
Nelspruit, St Martin in the Fields Irene
and Dean of St Alban's Cathedral. During
these years served as Archdeacon of the
Lowveld, the Eastern Highveld and Hennops
River. In June 2004 the Diocese of Mpumalanga
was inaugurated and in September of the
same year was elected as the First Bishop
of Mpumalanga. Consecrated and Enthroned
in February 2005. Enjoys trout fishing
and playing the guitar! |

Austin
Clarke - College Headmaster
Appointed
Headmaster in 2004. Previously Headmaster
of U-Tech College in Swaziland and Business
Manager at Sisekelo High School and Mananga
College. His passion is technology, particularly
the school administration system which
he developed. He is married to Elsa. They
have four children: Robert who matriculated
from Uplands in 2003 and is studying engineering
at UCT; Jennifer who matriculated from
Uplands in 2005 and is studying for a
Social Science degree; Monica is in Gr
10 and Emily in Gr 8. |
