Uplands
Pupils Excel in Sport
For a relatively “small” and
“young” school, Uplands College
has consistently produced exceptional
results and this year is no exception.
Particular mention must be made of the
number of College pupils who have earned
their provincial colours in various sports
during May and June 2007.
Reinart
Toerien and Sharee Comley
represented Mpumalanga on the Tennis courts.
Joshua Snyman and Richard
Howland represented Mpumalanga
on the Squash courts at the Inter-Provincial
tournament in Bloemfontein. Joshua was
the only member in his team who won all
his matches. Based on his outstanding
results, he has been included in the SA
Country Districts Squash Team.
Four
Hockey players earned their provincial
caps. Craig Pascoe, Timothy
Berger (both U18A) and Kevin
Addison (U16A) are playing for
the Boys’ Hockey side; Magna
Howard was selected for the Mpumalanga
U17 Girls’ Hockey side.
Four
Rugby players made it into the Puma Rugby
teams. Ryan Thomson and
Thabo Khoza have been
selected for the Pumas U18A Academy side;
Charles Siwele has been
selected for the Pumas U18B Academy XV
and Keith Trytsman made
it into the Pumas U19B Team. Mr
George van Rensburg, Deputy Headmaster,
has been appointed coach of the Pumas
U19A side.
