We started out on a
cloudy Saturday morning, planning to arrive
at 09h00, but the bus driver refused to
travel on the wet dirt road which left
us with no option but to walk! Some were
lucky and got a lift some of the way;
on the back of a bakkie, but others were
brave enough to walk all the way. I apologise
for everybody who got wet in the process!
Despite the circumstances, everybody
stayed positive and the spirit was high!
Thank you all for that!
Although we started the program late,
we still managed to learn 5 new songs
(sometimes it takes us a year to do
that!) and work on some old ones and
proper focusing exercises! Thanks to
Mrs van Velden who joined me on the
camp, we could split the boys and girls
for sessions in order to get double
the work done!
When we rehearsed as a full choir,
we used the church which had a wonderful
atmosphere and acoustics. Every choir
member gave of their best and made the
most of these sessions. I was humbled
by their attitude and willingness!
We also had some time for adventure
and this was also enjoyed by all! The
food was good and the peaceful night
with good sleep also helped in making
the weekend a success.
I thank you in advance for your support
this coming year without which we cannot
function to the best of our ability.
