The Uplands College
First Team won the Lowveld League, for
the second time in a row, this year. The
boys played twenty four games in what
has been a very exciting season. Of the
fourteen boys who played last year only
four remained. This meant that some very
young players had to step up and they
displayed incredible determination in
doing so. The results of our local league
games are as follows:
Vs
Nelspruit Hoer won 2 - 0
Vs Lowveld High won 3 - 1
Vs Lydenburg won 5 - 0
Vs Rob Ferreira won 3 – 1
Vs Bergvlam won 5 - 2
Vs Penryn College drew 0 – 0
The
top two teams in the league had to play
against teams from the Highveld in the
Mpumalanga play-offs. Uplands played Hoerskool
General Hertzog in the quarterfinals and
won 4-0. We played Secunda in the semi-
finals and drew 1-1 having had an obvious
goal disallowed. We lost
4 – 3 in a penalty shootout.
Highlights
of the season include six games at a festival
where we played against teams from all
over South Africa and playing against
numerous touring teams.
