Riding Results 2011
The Mpumalanga riders
literally flew the province’s
flag high when they were named the best-presented
province at the South African National
Equestrian Schools Association during
the opening parade. Despite the fact
that Mpumalanga Horse Society is a young
organisation and has fewer riders than
the other provinces, the team held their
own and brought back several rosettes
to the Lowveld.
The team was obviously
well prepared for this annual show in
Gauteng and not a single local rider
stood back one iota to their more experienced
competitors. There were more than a
1000 horses competing daily during the
three-day show.
Uplands
College had nine riders in the Mpumalanga
team and they did exceptionally well
with extraordinary results from Bianca
Jones and Iuan jones. Bianca Jones on
Drummer Girl easily managed to jump
into the lead in the 1,10m class and
also came fifth in her metre class.
Iuan Jones on Lemon Drop Kid was placed
6th in Equitation and 7th in Dressage
Novice 06 class. Jeanne Gildenhuys decided
last year to bring on a young Warmblood
Taba Dumas and in nine months brought
it from 70 cm to 1m and into the Mpumalanga
A-Team. She rode him at Nationals on
90cm and was placed 16th in the Top
20.
