Grade 8 Concert 2009

The Gr 8 Concerttook place on 26 February 2009. As this is part of the Gr 8’s assessment for Art & Culture, each class had to perform a short play as a group. They had to write their own scripts, plan their own choreography, costumes etc.

The theme was Strange America and the different class items were Survivor, Epic Street, Boys of the Playboy Mansion and Superheroes Support Group Meeting. We also had some individual items with Jonathan Adams, Luzia Antunes and Shannon Tilly playing piano solos, Atanas Parpurov, Tineke Pienaar and Ariel Wainstein singing, Colin Cross beatboxing, Muzi Mlangeni saying a poem and Sizwe Khoza and Sandile Jele doing a rap dance.

The plays were entertaining, witty, humorous and tasteful. It appears that it is a confident group of people with much to offer the College.

The Gr 8s were welcomed by the Head Boy and Head Girl. The Mentors did their usual thing at the end of the proceedings and it was quite thought-provoking.

Well done to all the Gr 8 pupils and a special thank you to the Arts & Culture teachers, The Grade 8’s also signed the Code of Honour and they are now full members of the Uplands College community.
