Independent
Schools Rugby Festival
& Parktown Boys' U14 Rugby Festival
April
2009
The
U15 Independent Schools Rugby Festival
This annual event was hosted by Woodridge
College outside Port Elizabeth. The
boys played their first mach against
the hosting school, Woodridge College.
It was a hard fought encounter but Uplands
managed to beat Woodridge 17-5. The
following day Uplands played against
Thomas More College. The boys stuck
to their game plan and won comfortably
20-5. The final game was a tough one
against one of the best independent
schools in South Africa, Hilton College.
The boys were clearly tired and drained
after two gruelling encounters and lost
0-32. However, they enjoyed the challenge
and hopefully, identified a few areas
which need work.
The
Parktown Boys’ U14 Rugby Festival
The U14 Rugby squad attended the Parktown
Boys’ High School U14 Rugby Festival.
All teams played five 20 minute matches
over the two days and Uplands came up
against some tough opposition. Uplands
played against Parktown Boys’
High School, St. Stithians College,
St. Andrews College, Jeppe, as well
as St. Albans. Although Uplands could
only manage a draw against St. Andrews,
we held our own on the field and competed
with enthusiasm and pride.
