Winter Sport versus Hoërskool Barberton

Uplands played the first home fixture against Barberton on Saturday, 18 April 2009. It was a clean sweep as far as the Girls’ Hockey was concerned.

The U14A’s won 7-0, the U15A’s won 2-0 and the U16A’s won 3-0. The 2nd team annihilated their opponents, winning 10-0 and the 1st team put up another fine performance, winning 5-0. Candice Hodgson scored 3 goals with Marike Sonnekus and Ashleigh Austin scoring the rest.

There was also one Boys Hockey match. The Uplands 2nd team played against Baberton's 1st team and won comfortably 5-2.

Although we lost most of our Netball matches, it must be said that most of them were closely contested affairs.

As far as the Rugby was concerned, the U14A XV played very well as a unit and beat Barberton 31-0. The U15’s were disappointing and went down 5-10. The 3rd team won 12-0 and the 2nd XV won easily 27-0. The 1st XV drew their match 10-10 in a match of two halves. Neil Brokensha and King Dlamini were the try scorers.
