Winster Sports versus Lowveld High

Uplands College played Rugby and Girls’ Hockey matches against Lowveld High at the College on 28 Apr 2009. The results were very pleasing.

As far as the Rugby was concerned, the U14A XV scraped through in a very close encounter, winning 19-17. The U15’s unfortunately lost 17-38 against a very competent side. The 2nd XV played a good brand of Rugby and won 38-10 and the 1st Team proved way too strong and won a convincing 32-13. Captain Jason Wright, Neil Brokensha, Keith Trytsman, Tyrone Tilly and Nisa Mnisi (2) scored tries for Uplands. It was, incidentally, Tyrone’s first try in the 1st Team jersey.

The Girls’ Hockey results were extremely pleasing and it was a clean sweep. The U14A’s won 2-0, the U15B’s won 4-0, the U15A’s won 3-0, the U16A’s annihilated their opponents beating them 9-0, the 2nd Team won 6-0 and the 1st Team continues to produce better results, winning 3-0. Candice Hodgson, Meegan Lindsay and Ashleigh Austin scored the goals.

Two Boys’ Hockey matches were played on 29 Apr. The U16A’s won 8-0 with Tyrone Tilly scoring a hat-trick. The 1st Team lost unexpectedly against a very determined and spirited Lowveld side. The score was 0-2.

The Netball matches were played on 29 Apr as well and, although the first team lost, they have improved their game. This year Uplands managed to get two wins (U14A won 11-8 and the U15A won 14-9). Captain Dima Thobejane played a superb match for the 1st Team and lead from the front. Lowveld High edged our 1st Team 9-15 and our 2nd Team also had a close encounter losing 14-17.
