Toastmasters
Graduation Dinner 2009
Every
year students take part in a Toastmasters
course offered by Toastmasters International,
a non-profit organisation. The course
is designed to help young people develop
their communication and leadership skills.
Apart from prepared and unprepared speeches,
listening skills are improved and confidence
is gained.
This
year there were eleven students who
participated in this prestigious course,
which consisted of eight sessions, followed
by a graduation dinner organised by
the participants themselves.
For
the first time since its inception the
Toastmasters Dinner was not held at
the College, but took place at Hulala
Lodge. Each student was allowed to bring
no more than two guests. During the
course of the evening each student participated
as well as a guest speaker who had done
many Toastmaster courses over a number
of years.
The
successful candidates were awarded a
certificate issued by Toastmasters International.
