Chess vs Penryn
The Chess Club started with fairly novice pupils attending the Tuesday sessions. It was not long before many became avid "warriors" of the game, challenging anyone and anything that crossed their path. Six of Penryn players challenged us to our first tournament which proved to be quite an eye-opener. The silence of the brain-power seemed to become overwhelming, but soon strategic planning was underway. As with any Great Battle, attack is the best means of defense, and with chess, this method cannot be underestimated! Andrew is keen for the next Challenge against Penryn this term, in order to somehow disarm his opponent. Nhlanhle Thabethe won one game – well done to him, possibly our latest and upcoming Champ! Bad luck to Phyllia who is our current Top Player, who was unfortunately not able to match the strategy of her opponent. Man – those guys are good! Watch this space for more action
