Njasso
Gala - 13 Jan 2010
Uplands College hosted a small group
of swimmers from Sweden. The Njasso
Swimming Club undertook a 3-week Africa
Tour, which included a week in Cape
Town and one in the Lowveld. A tour
highlight was the remarkable Lowveld
hospitality and the fantastic food in
the area. On arrival they were treated
to a braai at the Uplands Lapa, followed
by a scrumptious dinner at Gum Treez.
After a short trip to Skukuza, they
were able to enjoy the family vibe at
Pappa’s and then the parent entourage
ate a hearty 5-course meal at the Karula
Hotel.
After a week of sightseeing, entertainment
and intensive training, on 13 January
2010 the 17-strong squad showed their
talent at the gala. The Njasso Team
of 5 boys and 12 girls achieved numerous
Top 3 finishes. The Uplands swimmers
achieved some great individual results,
but were clearly underprepared. Penryn
College dominated the event with a handful
of swimmers. Martie Vitus put together
a very strong Lowveld Combined High
School Team coming second.
