The Annual Honours Evening was held on Thursday, 22 October 2009 in celebration of the achievements of our pupils and in acknowledgement of their contribution to the success of the College. Uplands College is on the map as a result of three pillars of strength: the pupils, parents and staff. The Headmaster’s address focused on our values and in particular, respect. The other aspect he touched on was parental expectations and the challenges a school faces to accommodate these expectations.

A number of Special Awards were made. Two new awards, namely Best All-Round Sportsman and -woman of the Year were introduced. It is appropriate to distinguish between a person who excels in a particular sports code and someone who participates in a range of activities, but does not necessarily excel in a particular code. The worthy recipients were:

The Ted Mathew Trophy for the Entrepreneur of the Year – Keegan Cordeiro
The Marisa Longuinho Award – Nonku Nyathi
