Uplands
PTA Golf Day
2008
Golfers showed their commitment to Uplands
and the game of golf when they arrived
very early to play in the Uplands College
2008 annual fundraising PTA Golf Day
at White River Country Club. It was
a gloriously sunny day, which made up
for the early start.
The
Tee and Green sponsorship was fantastic
this year and many of the sponsors were
out on the course entertaining the hot
and tired golfers.
The
White River Clubhouse was a welcome
retreat from the sun outside, and welcomed
the tired golfers in for the prize giving!
Magnificent
hampers were awarded to the top Twenty
one four ball place winners, four ball
partnerships and lucky winners found
themselves holding baskets of wonderful
treats and vouchers. Prize sponsorship
and donations were particularly generous
this year, with parents of Uplands,
local companies as well as companies
from further a field, such as Johannesburg
getting involved.
The
winning four ball was Raymond Lovett,
Fav Van Rooyen, Alex Lovett and Skonnie
de Beer on 124 points, their early morning
start obviously did not hamper their
results in the least. In second place,
on a count out, were James Sheard, Craig
Nel, Garrick Mullin and Carel Jacobsz
on 124 points. Close on their heels
in third place was Noel Tearle, Kevin
Wright, Alan Matus and Steven Cullen
on 122 points.
Winners
of the nearest to the pins on the short
holes could testify that accuracy pays
dividends on the course as gift hampers
including all sorts of goodies were
won. Nearest the Pin prizes went to
Mikael Asen on the 5th, James Sheard
on the 3rd and Flip Du Toit on the 17th.
The
longest drive for men went to Jan Wessels
and the ladies went to Debbie Tarrant-Phillips
respectively and for their efforts were
awarded lovely prizes.
The
success of the day wouldn’t have
been possible without the kindness and
generosity of the Uplands family, tremendous
hard work by the College PTA and the
generous support of our sponsors! The
day proved to be a very happy and successful
occasion once again!
