Grade 8 "Guppy" Gala 2010

Uplands College held the annual Guppy Gala on Thursday, 15 January 2010. This gala is held in the first week to involve new pupils straight away and to identify swimmers for the Inter-House Gala.

This gala usually sees every Gr 8 pupil swimming all four strokes so as to identify swimmers for the Inter-House Gala. This pits pupils from the respective Houses – Bishop, College and Founders - against each other and introduces them to the Inter-House competition which runs throughout the whole year. This event has clearly grown in importance since the war cries of the different Houses could be heard from afar.

We were thrilled by the talent shown. Some of the highlights included:
Alessandra de Leo was certainly the star for Bishop Girls, amazing us all with her talent and by her winning all her races. Keagan du Preez was the star for Bishop Boys and is a clear asset for Bishop House.
In Founders House, Shannon Todd displayed promise, while Bradley Frohlich had the Founders supporters screaming at the top of their lungs.
