Grade 8 "Guppie" Gala
The annual Guppie Gala on Friday, 18 January 2008. This gala is held in the first school week to involve new pupils straight away and to identify swimmers for the Inter-house Gala.

Swimming 2006
Two swimmers from Uplands College, Marike de Beer and Francis Ferreira were selected to represent Mpumalanga. They participated in a number of events and came home with six medals.

Francis swam the Boys’ U15 200m Breaststroke and the Boys’ U15 200m Medley Relay. He won a Bronze Medal in both races.

Marike de Beer swam the Girls’ U14 100m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke and the 200m Medley Relay. She swam outstandingly and achieved first place in the 100m Freestyle and was awarded a Gold Medal. She was awarded Silver Medals for both the 100m Butterfly and 200m Medley Relay, and a Bronze Medal for the 100m Backstroke.
