Accounting
Accounting
provides very important life
skills. A pupil does not necessarily
need to consider an Accounting
career in order to find the
subject worthwhile. Most company
directors and managers have
some background in Accounting.
Some
careers that are directly linked
to Accounting are the following:
- Auditors
- Budget
analyst
- Tax
consultants (private or
government)
- Bookkeepers
(corporate or private)
- Banking
- Insurance:
actuary / brokers / insurance
underwriter
- Investments:
sales
/ marketing / senior manager
-
Economic research
- Information
Technology
To
take Accounting successfully
to Grade 12, a pupil needs a
solid Grade 8 and Grade 9 EMS
background and to have achieved
at least a ‘D’ for
Maths and EMS in Grade 9.
The
course material covers the areas
of Financial Accounting, Managerial
Accounting and Managing Resources.
Business
Studies
The
business unit forms the foundation
upon which a modern economy
is built. In Business Studies
we examine every aspect of business,
with particular emphasis on
entrepreneurship and the challenge
of starting and managing one’s
own business.
During
the course, pupils will learn
how to submit a business plan,
taking into account the various
issues facing an owner, including
globalisation, legislation,
the challenge of infectious
diseases (HIV/AIDS) and the
socio-economic impact of the
business. |
